Other Blog Back Up

I guess I shouldn't get so irate about computer problems. My wordpress blog is back online after a day suspended. It seems the system flagged it for some reason. In any case, I should learn to take it easy. It really doesn't matter if my blogs disappear. It's only writing practice, and it's a lot more compact than reams of paper.

I am serious about starting another project. Blogs are nice, but few people read them. Perhaps I should write a book about blogging. There are scads of books on that subject already. Anyway, I am off to work on something more profitable. All this blogging is driving me batty.

My Wonderful Day

I hooked up to my wordpress blog this afternoon. The idiots on that service suspended my blog for supposedly violating their terms of service. Well, I read their terms, and I found the violation. I violated the clause where they say they can suspend my blog for no apparent reason. Perhaps this is a common clause in blog provider services. I'm sure they all have a clause where they say they can suspend the service any time they want to. Who cares. I never made a dime off that blog. It was a writing experiment. 600 posts, probably 300,000 words, all gone because somebody doesn't like the looks of my blog. Who cares.

I'm sure my other blogs are next. You get what you pay for I suppose. Easy come, easy go. All I had to do was type my fingers into a painful state for a year. I should concentrate on writing something I can sell instead of all this free blog bullshit. It doesn't make sense to waste time on something some random bastard can wipe out for no apparent reason. It makes no sense to pay for a blog either. Why should I pay money so other people can read my words? That's ridiculous. People should be paying me to read my words. That's how the writing business works. I think it was Samuel Johnson who said "None but a blockhead writes for anything but money." I guess that makes me a blockhead for writing a third of a million words in a year for nothing. Who cares.

Perhaps I should read the Blogger terms of service to see if the suspend for no reason clause is in there. I'm sure it is. Anyway, I knew a free blog was too good to be true. My new policy is going to be to make people pay for what I write. Now, tomorrow I get to work on something real and leave all this blogging nonsense behind me.

Space Age Traffic Spike

Wow, 541 page views on my short paragraph on space age clothing yesterday. For some reason this post got Google page rank. If I could come up with more little articles about stuff like that, this blog would get some traffic. It's really hit or miss when you write something on a blog as to if it will get traffic.

I should come back to this blog and try to write more little articles like that. I have been working on my art blog last week, and think I will do some promotion. As for this blog, one of these days I will look around for more cool stuff to post. That's all for today. I was surprised that so many people read that one article yesterday.

The Ventures

The first time I ever heard of The Ventures was in highschool. Some friends and I had a rock band. We had a guitarist who liked surf music. He would sit in his house all day learning riffs from the old bands of the 60's. So, we listened to records and tried to play songs. It was cool music and fun to play.

Now, Bob Bogle, the lead guitarist of The Ventures is dead. He died Sunday after being taken to the hospital. He was 75. It's sad when people die, and it makes you think about what can be done in a lifetime. Surf music was popular a long time ago. It is still popular in movies like Pulp Fiction. The music is still around in recordings, and of course it is online on YouTube.

H2O Audio

H2O Audio sells a line of waterproof headphones and iPods so you can listen to music while you are swimming laps in your Olympic pool. I had no idea there was such a demand for this kind of product. I know there have been pools with underwater speakers for years, but a personal entertainment device to wear while you are swimming, who would have guessed.

It seems they must be making some kind of money off this product, as they have just hired Michael Phelps to endorse their products. If you are interested in this kind of device, so you can jam out while you are in the pool, check out H2O Audio's website. I suppose it only had to be a matter of time before somebody came up with a music player that worked underwater. Now, all I want to know is why?

Statue of Liberty Garment

The Statue of Liberty wears a robe. It is a type of robe Roman women used to wear in ancient times called a stola. The Roman goddess of liberty, Libertas, was depicted as wearing this kind of attire.

As far as I know, there is nothing wrong with the garment the Statue of Liberty is wearing. From what I know, it is made of copper and has developed a nice green patina over the years the statue has stood in New York.

I have no idea why this is the top search on Google Trends now. My guess is that somebody on TV was talking about this today. Television controls what people think about. It is the function of television to enslave minds. Perhaps it is ironic that the mass media has caused people to look for what kind of robe this symbol of freedom wears.

Zicam

Zicam is a zinc-containing product that is supposed to help in recovery from the common cold. The company has various products that apply zinc through the mucus membranes of the nasal cavities. It is supposed that zinc supplementation aids in recovery from virus infections.

Apparently, there have been 130 cases of people losing their sense of smell after using this product. The FDA today ordered the recall of the Zicam products that apply zinc through the nose. Oral supplement pills have not been recalled. Zicam stock took a 55% nosedive today at the release of this news.

If you have a cold, you are probably better off to take common medical advice and just rest and drink plenty of fluids. The only cure for a virus is to let your immune system fight it off. There is some speculation that vitamin C helps in recovery from colds. If there is a problem with people losing their sense of smell from using a zinc product through their nose, it might make sense not to do such a silly thing as spray zinc solutions up your nose. Sorry Zicam.
